@Janne Pak, Pentagon Correspondent(1/13/2022).

The North Korea fired another missile on the 11th (local time). It was the second launch this year.

North Korea reported that the missile was a hypersonic missile and that it was the final hypersonic missile launch.

The intention of North Korea's successive missile launches is unknown, but it is clear that it is intended to pressure the U.S.

North Korea said it will continue to accelerate its strengthening of its national defense capabilities. It is also known that winter military training is still in progress.

From this point of view, it is expected that the North Korean armed protests will continue.

Today (13th, local time) is my question about "North Korea's second missile launch" at the U.S. Department of Defense briefing.

The following is a Q and A with Pentagon Spokesman John Kirby.

Q:(Janne Pak): Thank you. I follow up that North Korea missile launches and that second missile launch. As far as I know, U.S. are still assessing the detail of it.

But North Korea is saying that this hypersonic missile test fire was the final test launch. And Kim Jong-un and his sister observed this missile launch.

What is the significance of the final test launch of the hypersonic missile? How can you analyze this because they said this is final? Does it mean they are never going to fire again?

A:(MR. KIRBY): Well, I think some of those questions are better put to Kim Jong-un and his sister, not to me. I can't and won't go beyond my answer to Bob. We are still assessing the results of this test. And I don't have anything more to add today than what we have already said.

Q:(Janne Pak): Are South Korea, the United States, and Japan cooperating well?

Q:(MR. KIRBY): We're still assessing.

Q:(Janne Pak): Does Secretary Austin have a call with the South Korean defense minister regarding missile launch?

A:(MR. KIRBY): No, there has been no phone discussions. We -- we read all the calls out to you, so it's not like we're doing one and then hiding it in our back pocket. There has been no discussions with respect to these missile launches.

Q:(Janne Pak): Thank you.

Q:(Janne Pak):

A:(MR.

A:(MR.

Q:(Janne Pak):

A:(MR.

Q:(Janne Pak):

It was reported that North Korea recently requested that Russia recognize North Korea's nuclear weapons for the sake of its nuclear weapons state, and that it expects that if Russia recognizes its nuclear weapons, North Korea will become a nuclear state. In an interview with Russia's RIA Novosti news agency, President Putin said that North Korea had its own nuclear umbrella and had not requested any help with nuclear weapons from Russia. However, this is just a play on words with the international community in mind. In fact, Russia recognizes North Korea as a nuclear state. As North Korea-Russia relations and North Korea-China relations are becoming more solidified, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi mentioned war and chaos on the Korean Peninsula at a press conference held at the Chinese Council on the 7th, saying, “The fundamental path is to resume peace negotiations and ensure that each party can resolve North Korea’s ‘reasonable situation.’” “It is about resolving ‘security’ concerns and promoting a political resolution process for the Korean Peninsula issue,” he said. Foreign Minister Wang Yi also shifted responsibility to South Korea and the United States, saying that they are the parties causing security anxiety in North Korea. At the same time, he pointed out the joint military exercises between South Korea and the United States.

As competition between the United States and China intensifies, President Biden recently signed an ‘executive order’ prohibiting the sale of American personal and national information to countries deemed to be of concern. There are six countries on the list of countries of concern, including China and North Korea. In particular, this is a measure to completely block actions that threaten national security through the misuse of Americans' personal and national information by hostile countries. (3-5-2024)   by: Janne Pak(White House & State Department & Pentagon & Congress Correspondent) Q&A with a State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller and Janne Pak at the State Department Press Briefing on March 5, 2024. The Biden administration has consistently emphasized that the ultimate goal of North Korea's denuclearization is complete and verifiable denuclearization. At the recent CSIS conference, Mira Rapp-Hooper, White House NSC senior adviser for Asia, said that 'interim step' could be considered in the process of North Korea's denuclearization, leading to strong disagreement among Korean Peninsula experts that this could send the wrong signal to Kim Jong-un. This is because Kim Jong-un has expectations that the United States will tolerate nuclear weapons. Why is Senior Advisor Rap Hooper making a gesture that the United States can negotiate with North Korea at this point? There has been no dialogue between the United States and...

(3-4-2024)   by: Janne Pak(White House & State Department & Pentagon & Congress Correspondent) @Q&A with a State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller and Janne Pak at the State Department Press Briefing on March 4, 2024. Russian President Putin recently warned that nuclear war would occur if Western countries send troops to Ukraine. Russia is a nuclear state. North Korea also actually possesses nuclear weapons. However, North Korea's nuclear weapons are not recognized by the international community. Russian President Putin is afraid that the United States and other Western countries will send troops to Ukraine and end the war quickly.
