@President Biden is giving a speech to the nation at the Oval Office of the White House at 8 p.m. on the 24th.

After announcing his resignation as the Democratic presidential candidate in an open letter to the American people on the 21st, President Biden directly explained his decision in a speech to the nation today (24th).

President Biden said at 8 PM on this day in the Oval Office of the White House that his resignation as a candidate was a defense of democracy and a sign of unity among the American people. In particular, protecting democracy in crisis is more important than any other position, he said. “I find strength and joy in working for the American people, but the sacred task of completing our unity is not about me.”

바이든 대통령은 지난 21일 미국민들에게 보내는 공개서한을 통해 민주당 대선 후보직 사퇴를 발표한 후 오늘(24일) 대국민 연설을 통해 자신의 결정을 직접 설명했다.

바이든 대통령은 이날 오후 8시 백악관 오발오피스에서 자신의 후보사퇴가 민주주의에 대한 수호와 미국민의 통합 대문이라고 말했다. 특히 위기에 처한 민주주의를 수호하는 일은 그 어떤 직책보다 중요하다면서 “나는 미국민을 위해 일하는 데에서 힘을 얻고 기쁨을 찾지만, 우리의 통합을 완성하는 신성한 임무는 나에 대한 것이 아니다.”고 말했다.

He emphasized, “This is about you, your family, your future, and our people.”

그러면서 “이것은 여러분과 여러분의 가족, 미래에 대한 것이고 우리 국민에 대한 것 이라고 강조 했다.

President Biden then announced that he would focus on his duties as president for the next six months and make efforts to resolve domestic and international issues. There is a lot of work left to do in the remaining six months of the term, including economics and diplomacy, so time is needed to complete it.

이어 바이든 대통령은 앞으로 6개월동안 대통령으로서의 직무에 집중할 것이며 국내외 문제 해결을 위해 노력하겠다는 뜻을 밝혔다. 남은 임기 6개월 동안 경제 외교등 할 일이 많이 남아있어 이를 마무리해야할 시간이 필요하다는 것이다.

“I will continue to work to ensure that the American people remain strong, safe and the leader of the free world,” he said. “I am the first president in this century to report to the American people that the United States is not at war anywhere in the world.”

또한 미국민이 강하고 안전하며 자유세계의 리더로 남을 수 있도록 계속 노력 할 것이라면서 “나는 금세기 들어 미국 국민에게 미국이 세계 어는 곳에서도 전쟁을 하지 않고 있다고 보고한 최초의 대통령”이라고 말했다

Meanwhile, the U.S. Republican Party has been insisting since President Biden withdrew from his candidacy, “Although he was not suitable for the position of candidate, he should immediately resign from the presidency.”

한편 미 공화당은 바이든 대통령의 후보 사퇴이후 줄곧 “후보직에도 적합하지 않았지만 대통령직도 즉시 사임해야 한다.“고 주장하고 있다.

President Biden did not forget to support Vice President Kamala Harris, whom he supported as the Democratic presidential candidate, emphasizing that she is “experienced, strong, and capable.”

바이든 대통령은 자신이 민주당 대선 후보로 지지한 카멀라 해리스 부통령에 대해 “경험이 많고 강인하며 유능하다.“고 강조하면서 해리스 부통령에 대한 응원도 잊지 않았다.

It can be seen that the hearts of the American people are somewhat tense as a fierce confrontation between the Republican and Democratic parties is expected in the months leading up to the presidential election. I believe that only when the American people are united and stable will the world find stability.

대선을 몇 개월 앞두고 공화, 민주 양당의 치열한 대결이 예상되면서 미국민들의 마음도 왠지 긴장되고 있음을 볼수 있다. 미국민이 단합되고 안정되어야 세계도 안정을 찾게 될 것이라고 본다.(끝)
