U.S. President Joe Biden and President-elect Donald Trump met at the White House Oval Office at 11 a.m. on the 13th (local time) to discuss the transfer of power. President Biden promised a smooth transfer of power, and President-elect Trump also said the transition would proceed smoothly.

조 바이든 미 대통령과 도널드 트럼프 대통령 당선인이 13일(현지시간) 오전 11시 백악관 오발 오피스에서 만나 정권이양 문제를 논의했다. 바이든 대통령은 순조로운 정권 이양을 약속했으며 트럼프 당선인도 이양 작업이 순조롭게 진행될 것이라고 말했다.

바이든 대통령은 지난 6일 트럼프 당선인에게 전화해 승리를 축하하고, 원활한 정권 이양을 위해 노력하겠다는 의지를 표명하며 백악관에서 만나자고 초청한 바 있다.

바이든 대통령과 트럼프 당선인이 비공개 논의를 하는 동안 백악관내 캠퍼스에는 많은 기자들이 취재를 하면서 혹시나 회동이 끝난후 트럼프 대통령이 기자들 앞에서 짧은 연설을 하지않을까 기대하면서 추운날씨에도 불구하고 대기하고 있었다.

바이든 대통령은 트럼프 당선인과 만난자리에서 평화적인 정권이양은 미국민들이 원하는 것이라며, 나 역시 순조로운 이양을 기대하고 있다고 말했다.

President Biden offered congratulations before a private discussion with President-elect Trump and promised, “As I said, I look forward to a smooth transition, and I will do everything I can to ensure that we have what we need.” “And we’ll have a chance to talk about that today.”

President-elect Trump responded to President Biden by saying, “Thank you very much.” “Politics is hard, and in many cases it is not a very good world, but today it is a good world,” he said, adding, “Once again, I am very grateful for a smooth transition.”

바이든 대통령은 트럼프 당선인과 비공개 논의에 앞서 축하 인사를 건네며 “말한 대로 순조로운 이양을 기대한다면서, 필요한 것을 갖출 수 있도록 할 수 있는 모든 것을 할 것”이라고 약속했다. 그리고 오늘 그것에 대해 얘기할 기회를 가질 것“이라고 말했다.

트럼프 당선인은 “대단히 감사하다.”고 바이든 대통령에게 화답했다. 그러면서 “정치는 힘들고 많은 경우 아주 좋은 세상은 아니지만 오늘은 좋은 세상”이라고 말하면서 “다시한번 순조로운 이양에 매우 감사하다”고 말했다.

바이든 대통령과 트럼프 당선인과의 만남은 2시간 동안 긴 시간이었으며, 이번 회동을 계기로 트럼프 당선인 인수팀과 바이든 행정부 간 인수인계 작업이 본격화할 전망이다.

Meanwhile, President-elect Trump met with Republican House members at a hotel near the Federal Capitol in Washington, D.C., prior to his meeting with President Biden.

한편 트럼프 당선인은 이날 바이든 대통령과의 회동에 앞서 워싱턴 DC 연방 의사당 인근에 있는 한 호텔에서 공화당 하원의원들과 만났다.

At the event, which was held privately, President-elect Trump reportedly delivered a speech celebrating his victory in the presidential election.
