@Secretary of Defense nominee Hegseth places his hand on a Bible held by his wife and takes the oath of office from Vice President Vance.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth was sworn into his new role leading America's 3.5 million service members and civilians by Vice President JD Vance this morning, following Hegseth's Friday evening Senate confirmation.

피터 헤그세스 국방장관은 지난 금요일 저녁 상원에서 승인을 받은 후 오늘(25일) 아침 JD 밴스 부통령으로부터 350만 명의 미국 군인과 민간인을 지휘하는 새로운 역할에 대한 선서를 받았다.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Peter Hegseth received a dramatic Senate confirmation vote of 51 to 50 last Friday.

After presenting Hegseth with his letter of appointment, Vice President Vance said, “We must reduce the number of U.S. troops stationed overseas,” and “We will place U.S. troops around the world under strict criteria such as the size of the mission.”

피터 헤그세스 미 국방장관은 지난 금요일 51대 50대 극적인 상원인준을 받았다.

벤스 부대통령은 헤그세스 국방장관에게 임명장을 수여한후 “해외주둔 미군을 줄여야 한다.”면서 “전 세계에 미군 배치를 임무 규모등 엄격한 기준하에 할 것이다.”고 밝혔다.

“It is important to rebuild the U.S. military,” Hegseth said, “We will review the mission of the U.S. military.” He added, “The U.S. military, who put their lives on the line in uniform, is important, but we should not send U.S. troops anywhere. The U.S. military should focus on deterring war, not fighting war.”

헤그세스 미 국방장관은 “미군 재건이 중요하다.”며 “미군의 임무를 재검토 할 것이다.”고 말했다. 그러면서 “제복입은 목숨을 건 미군은 중요하다면서 아무곳에나 미군을 보내서는 안된다며 미군은 전쟁을하는 것이 아니라 전쟁을 억제하는데 중점을 둬야한다.”고 말했다.

Meanwhile, Defense Secretary Hegseth said in a message to the Force that “the president has given us a clear mission: to achieve peace through strength,” emphasizing three things: * restore warrior spirit, * rebuild the military, and * restore deterrence.

한편, 헤그세스 국방장관은 군에 대한 메시지에서 “대통령은 우리에게 분명한 사명을 주었다고 말하면서 ”힘을 통한 평화를 달성하는 것이다.“며 그것은 3가지,*전사정신을 회복하고 *군대를 재건하고, 억지력을 회복하는 것이다고 강조했다.

“We will stand by our allies, our enemies will not rest or give in, and neither will we. We will stand shoulder to shoulder to meet the urgency of this moment,” Hegseth said.

헤그세스 장관은 “우리는 우리의 동맹국들을 지지할 것이다, 우리의 적들은 쉬지도, 굴복하지도 않을 것이다. 그리고 우리도 그러지 않을 것이다. 우리는 이 순간의 긴급함을 맞이하기 위해 어깨를 나란히 할 것이다.“고 밝혔다.

In his inaugural address, President Trump emphasized America First and declared that the United States would not get involved in wars that are not in its interests.

앞서 트럼프 대통령은 취임사에서 미국의 우선주의를 강조하며 미국의 이익없는 전쟁에 개입하지 않겠다고 밝혔다.

Attention is also being paid to any changes in the role and scale of US forces in Korea during the second Trump administration.

트럼프 2기 행정부에서 주한미군의 역할과 규모에 어떠한 변화가 있을지도 주목된다.(끝)
