The Pentagon recently announced that there has been no change in the role of the USFK despite President Biden’s signing of the National Defense Authorization Act for the stationing of 28,500 US troops in South Korea. It emphasized that “we have made an ironclad commitment to military cooperation with South Korea,” and that “ROK is a valuable partner of the US in terms of our presence in the Indo-Pacific.”

When it comes to the domestic issues and forces happening in the Republic of Korea, obviously it's something that we're going to monitor. But you know those are things that the people of the Republic of Korea are going to have to chart for themselves.
