Twenty years ago, on September 11, 2001, the United States suffered huge losses from terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers in New York, Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and the Pentagon. There were 2,977 deaths, numerous wounded and missing.

Since then, the U.S. has started the war on terror and the war with the terrorist groups in Afghanistan has begun. Ten years later, the United States sought and killed bin Laden, the leader of the terrorist attack.

The United States is determined to end the war in Afghanistan. Finally, on August 31, the U.S. forces withdrew completely from Afghanistan.
The U.S. military in Afghanistan can no longer sacrifice. It was an order from the commander-in-chief of the military that no more Americans could be sacrificed in the civil war between the Afghan government forces and the Taliban.

President Biden said that the withdrawal of U.S. troops cannot be sacrificed where it is not in the national interest.

He added that the United States would not engage in civil war, but would hunt down terrorists to the end to protect American lives.

Today is the 20th anniversary of 911. President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Secretary of Defense Austin held 20th anniversary celebrations in New York, Pennsylvania and the Pentagon respectively, and said the United States will never forget 911. And sent condolences to the families of the victims.

Recalling the 911 incident that inevitably shocked the whole world, we cannot lower our vigilance against terrorism even for a moment. We must all look around to ensure that no terrorists can set foot anywhere on Earth.

I remember September 11, 2001. When I got out of the Pentagon subway at 9:35 am and just looked in front of the parking lot in front of the Pentagon building, black smoke was covered with noises and people were in a state of chaos. I still get goosebumps when I remember the day I witnessed the scene.

[911을 잊지 말자!]

지난 20년전 2001년 9월 11일, 미국은 뉴욕의 쌍둥이 건물과 펜실베니아의 Shanksville, 펜타곤등에 테러의 공격을 받아 큰 손실을 입었다. 사망자 2977명, 수많은 부상자, 실종자등이 발생했다.

그로부터 미국은 테러와의 전쟁이 시작됐고 아프가니스탄의 테러집단과 전쟁이 시작되었다. 그로부터 10년이 지난후 미국은 테러 주동자인 빈 라덴을 찾아 사살했다.

미국은 아프가니스탄에서의 전쟁을 종식할 것을 결심했다. 그리고 지난 8월 31일 결국 미군은 아프가니스탄에서 완전 철수 했다.

아프가니스탄에서의 미군이 더 이상 희생할수 없다는 것이다. 아프가니스탄 정부군과 탈레반과의 내전에 더 이상 미군을 희생 시킬수 없다는 군 통수권자의 명령이었다.

바이든 대통령은 미군 철수에 대해 국익이 없는 곳에 미군을 희생 시킬수 없다고 말했다.
그러면서 미국은 내전에 관여하지 않을것이고 다만 미국인의 생명을 보호하기 위해서 테러리스트들을 끝까지 헌팅 할 것이라고 밝혔다.

오늘은 911 20주년이다. 바이든 대통령과 헤리스 부통령 그리고 오스틴 국방장관은 각각 뉴욕과 펜실베니아, 펜타곤에서 20주년 행사를 개최 했고, 미국은 911 사건을 절대 잊지 않을 것이라고 말했다. 그리고 희생자들의 가족들에게 위로를 보냈다.

온 세계가 경악할 수밖에 없는 911 사건을 상기하며 테러에 대한 경계를 한시라도 늦출수 없다. 우리 모두가 주위를 살피면서 지구의 어디에도 테러리스트들이 발을 디딜수 없도록 해야 겠다.

2001년 9월11일을 나는 기억한다. 오전 9시 35분쯤 펜타곤 지하철에서 나와 펜타곤 빌딩앞 파킹장앞을 막 쳐다보니 괴음소리와 함께 검은 연기가 뒤덮여 있고 사람들이 우왕자왕 아수라장이었다. 현장을 목격한 그날을 기억하면 지금도 소름이 끼친다.
