백악관이 이란과의 종전합의 안에 근접했다고 밝혔다

On the 6th (local time), U.S. President Donald Trump reaffirmed the U.S. principle that Iran must not possess nuclear weapons, asserting that Iran—which is currently engaged in negotiations—has also agreed to this.

도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령은 6일(현지시간) 이란이 핵무기를 가져서는 안 된다는 미국의 원칙을 재확인하면서 협상 중인 이란도 여기에 동의했다고 주장했다.

Speaking with reporters at a White House event on the 6th (local time), President Trump stated, "Iran must not possess nuclear weapons, and it will not," adding, "They agreed to this point, along with various other matters."

트럼프 대통령은 6일(현지시간) 백악관 행사에서 기자들과의 대화에서 "이란은 핵무기를 가져선 안 되고, 가지지 않을 것이다.”며 "그들도 다른 여러 사항과 함께 이 점에 동의했다"고 밝혔다.

According to Axios, the United States and Iran are reportedly discussing the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to end the war.

악시오스 매체에 따르면 미국과 이란은 전쟁 종식을 위한 양해각서(MOU) 체결을 논의 중이라고 보도했다.

It is reported that the memorandum of understanding is expected to include provisions such as a temporary suspension of Iran's nuclear enrichment activities, the lifting of U.S. sanctions against Iran, and the gradual lifting of both Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and the U.S. maritime blockade against Iran.

양해각서에는 이란의 핵농축 일시 중단, 미국의 대이란 제재 해제, 이란의 호르무즈 해협 봉쇄 및 미국의 대이란 해상 봉쇄의 점진적 해제 등이 담길 것으로 전해졌다.

In an interview with PBS on this day, President Trump stated that the agreement would include the transfer of Iran's stockpile of highly enriched uranium to the United States and the suspension of operations at Iran's underground nuclear facilities.

트럼프 대통령은 이날 PBS 인터뷰에서 합의안에 이란의 고농축 우라늄 비축분을 미국으로 반출하는 것과 이란의 지하 핵시설 가동 중단이 포함될 것이라고 말했다.

President Trump's remarks suggested that Iran had accepted these conditions; however, as Iran has yet to acknowledge its acceptance, the situation's outcome remains a subject of close attention.

트럼프 대통령의 발언은 이란이 이 같은 조건을 수용했음을 시사한 것이지만 이란은 아직 조건수용에 대해 인정하지 않고 있어 귀추가 주목된다.

President Trump stated that he had held "very good conversations" with Iran over the past 24 hours and that "there is a very high possibility of reaching an agreement."

트럼프 대통령은 이란과 "지난 24시간 동안 매우 좋은 대화를 나눴다"며 "합의할 가능성이 매우 크다"고 말했다.

He further added, "Now, we must get what we need to get," warning that "otherwise, we will have to take much stronger measures"—thereby reiterating the possibility of expanded military action against Iran should an agreement fail to materialize.

또 "이제 우리는 얻어야 할 것을 얻어야 한다"며 "그렇지 않으면 훨씬 더 강한 조치를 해야 할 것"이라고 말해 합의 불발시 대이란 군사행동 확대 가능성을 거듭 밝혔다.

When asked whether there was a deadline for negotiations with Iran, President Trump stated, "Never a deadline”

트럼프 대통령은 이란과의 협상에 시한이 있냐는 질문에 "시한은 없다"고 말했다.

In this regard, it has been reported that the White House expects negotiations with Iran to be concluded by the time President Trump concludes his visit to China on the 15th.

이와 관련, 백악관은 트럼프 대통령이 오는 15일 중국 방문 일정을 마칠 때까지 이란과의 협상이 마무리되길 기대하고 있다고 전해졌다.

President Trump stated that military operations against Iran had inflicted a severe blow to the country's naval, air, and missile capabilities, adding, "I think we won."

트럼프 대통령은 대이란 군사작전을 통해 이란의 해·공군 및 미사일 전력에 큰 타격을 입혔다면서 "우리가 이겼다고 생각한다"고 말했다.

Later that day, during an event marking Military Mothers' Day, President Trump went so far as to downplay the conflict with Iran, characterizing it as merely a "skirmish." He remarked, "I’m going to call it a skirmish. That’s what it is. It’s a skirmish, and we are doing incredibly well."

트럼프 대통령은 이날 미군 어머니의 날 행사에선 이란 전쟁을 '소규모 충돌'(skirmish)로 격하하기도 했다. 그는 "나는 소규모 충돌이라고 부르겠다. 그게 현실이다. 소규모 충돌이고 우리는 믿을 수 없이 잘하고 있다"고 했다.

On this day, President Trump invited mixed martial arts fighters to the Oval Office to promote a UFC event scheduled to be held at the White House on the 14th of next month—his 80th birthday.

트럼프 대통령은 이날 백악관 집무실로 이종격투기 선수들을 초대해 자신의 팔순 생일인 다음 달 14일 백악관에서 개최되는 이종격투기(UFC) 이벤트를 홍보했다.

The Trump administration is organizing large-scale commemorative events to mark the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, one of which is a UFC event at the White House.

트럼프 행정부는 미국 건국 250주년을 맞아 대규모 기념행사를 마련하고있으며 이 중 하나가 백악관 UFC 이벤트다.

It has been reported that a "Peace Day" event will be held on the South Lawn of the White House on June 14, in celebration of President Trump's 80th birthday. (End)
