A meeting between the South Korean and U.S. foreign ministers was held on January 3rd (local time) at the U.S. State Department building in Washington, D.C.

Although the two foreign ministers met to discuss the issue of tariff increases, South Korea did not achieve the meaningful progress it desired.

3일(현지시간) 워싱턴  DC 소재 미 국무성 청사에서 한미 외교장관 회의가 열렸다. 이번 양국 외교 장관이 만나 관세 재인상 문제를 협의 했지만 한국이 원하는 의미 있는 진전을 이루지 못했다.

Secretary Rubio and South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul discussed ways to advance the U.S.-South Korea alliance, focusing on a forward-looking agenda, in line with the spirit of the summit meetings between President Trump and President Lee Jae-myung held in Washington and Gyeongju.

During the meeting, the two ministers agreed to cooperate closely on issues such as nuclear power, nuclear-powered submarines, and investment in the United States.

루비오 장관과 조현 한국 외무부 장관은 워싱턴과 경주에서 열린 트럼프 대통령과 이재명 대통령의 정상회담 정신에 따라 미래지향적인 의제를 중심으로 한미 동맹을 추진하는 방안을 논의했다.

During the meeting, the two ministers agreed to cooperate closely on issues such as nuclear power, nuclear-powered submarines, and investment in the United States.

양국 장관은 이번 회담에서 원자력과 핵 추진 잠수함 등과 대미 투자에서 긴밀히 협혁하기로 합의 했다.

They reaffirmed their commitment to the complete denuclearization of North Korea. They also emphasized the critical importance of trilateral cooperation among the United States, Japan, and South Korea in maintaining regional stability and a free and open Indo-Pacific.

북한의 완전한 비핵화에 대한 약속을 재확인했다. 또한 미국, 일본, 한국 삼자 협력이 지역 안정을 유지하고 자유롭고 개방된 인도-태평양을 유지하는 데 있어 중대한 중요성을 강조했다. (끝)
