Secretary of War Hegseth began a tour of several states today (5th, local time) to support the U.S. defense industrial base, visiting workers at a large shipyard in Newport News, Virginia.

This is a resurgence of the American industrial base, and these are truly American-made products, built by the best Americans."

Secretary Hegseth also emphasized that the nation's precious freedoms can only be safely protected when its defense capabilities are strong, and that nothing is more important than safeguarding these freedoms.

In his speech, Secretary Hegseth warned against the decades-long bipartisan consensus that the United States no longer needed to focus on its defense industrial capacity. Secretary Hegseth continued his discussion of the noble calling at a recruiting station near Newport News that morning, where he administered the oath of enlistment to 30 new recruits.
