President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelenskyy held a summit meeting on FDecember 28 (local time) at President Trump's private residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida.

트럼프 대통령과 젤렌스키 우크라이나 대통령이 12월 28일(현지시간) 미국 플로리다주 마러라고 트럼프 대통령의 개인 저택에서 정상회담을 가졌다.

Trump and Zelenskyy held a press conference after their summit meeting regarding a peace plan to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.

트럼프와 젤렌스키는 러시아와 우크라이나 전쟁 종전안과 관련한 정상회담을 가진 뒤 기자회견을 개최했다.

Trump told reporters that most issues had been discussed and that "significant progress" had been made. He explained that he had mediated discussions between Russia and Ukraine, including talks on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and the cession of Ukrainian territory demanded by Russia, such as in the Donbas region.

트럼프는 기자들에게 대부분의 현안이 논의 됐다며 “상당한 진전이 있었다.”고 밝혔다. 그러면서 자포리자 원전 재재 논의와 돈바스 등 러시아가 요구하는 우크라이나 영토 할양 논의를 를비롯해 러.우 간 의견 조율을 중재했다고 설명했다.

Hours before his meeting with Zelenskyy, Trump also spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin and said that they were "very close to an agreement, maybe almost there," on the issue of the Donbas territory, a key point of contention between Russia and Ukraine.

트럼프는 젤렌스키와 회담을 몇시간 앞두고 블라디미르 푸틴 러시아 대통령과도 통화했고, 러시아와 우크라이나 간 핵심 쟁점인 돈바스 영토 문제에 대해 “합의에 매우 근접했드며, 어쩌면 거의 다 왔다.”고 말했다.

Trump said that the outlines of the peace plan would become clear in the coming weeks, and added that he would also speak to the Ukrainian parliament regarding his peace initiative.

트럼프는 종전안의 실행 윤곽이 향후 몇 주 내에 드러날 것이라며, 자신의 평화 구상과 관련해 우크라이나 의회에서 연설 할 것이라고도 말했다.

Zelenskyy said at a press conference, "We had very productive discussions," and expressed gratitude to the U.S. side for the progress made. He added that the meeting was very constructive and that he plans to meet with Trump and other European leaders in January to finalize discussions on a peace plan.

젤렌스키는 기자회견에서 “매우 유익한 논의를 했다.”며 진전된 부분에 대해 미국 측에 감사드린다.“고 말했다. 그러면서 ”이번 회담이 매우 건설적이었다며, 1월 중 트럼프를 비롯한 유럽 정상들과 만나 종전안 논의를 마무리 할 계획이라고 밝혔다.

Even as the leaders of the United States and Ukraine prepare to meet, Russia continues to launch surprise military attacks against Ukraine. It appears their intention is to secure more territory before a ceasefire agreement is reached.

미국과 우크라이나 수장의 만남을 앞두고도 러시아는 계속 우크라이나를 향해 기습적인 군사행동를 가해오고 있다. 종전선언을 하기전 좀더 영토를 확보려하는 의도가 있다고 본다.

Meanwhile, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced that it had begun work to repair power lines near the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which has become a point of contention in peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.

한편 국제원자력기구(IAEA)는 이날 러시아와 우크라이나 간 종전 협상 쟁점이 되고 있는 자포리자 원전 인근 송전선 복구 작업을 시작했다고 밝혔다.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said that "repair work has begun on key power lines near the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, following a new ceasefire agreement brokered by the IAEA." Ukrainian energy supplier DTEK also announced that "power has been restored to all 748,000 households in Kyiv, including key infrastructure."

IAEA의 라파엘 그로시 사무총장은 “IAEA가 중재한 새로운 휴전 협정에 따라, 자포리자 원전 인근의 핵심 송전선 복구 작업이 시작됐다.”고 말했다.  우크라이나 에너지 공급 업체인 DTEK도 “수도 키이우의 주요 기반 시설에 74만 8천 가구 모든 가정에 전력 공급을 재개했다.”고 밝혔다.

During the press conference, President Trump, looking at President Zelenskyy, remarked, "The talks are not easy because if Ukraine agrees, Russia doesn't, and if Russia agrees, Ukraine doesn't."

트럼프 대통령은 기자회견에서 젤렌스키 대통령을 바라보며 “우크라이나가 동의하면, 러시아가 동의하지 않고, 러시아가 동의하면 우크라이나가 동의하지 않기 때문에 회담이 그리 녹록하지 않다.”는 말을 건네기도 했다.

Meanwhile, Finnish President Stubb announced that he would be participating in a video conference that day along with President Trump and President Zelenskyy, as well as the President of the European Commission and the Secretary General of NATO, and the leaders of France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, and Norway.

한편, 스투브 핀란드 대통령은 이날 트럼프 대통령. 젤렌스키 대통령과 함께 유럽연합(EU) 집행위원장과 나토(NATO. 북대서양 조약기구) 사무총장을 비롯해 프랑스, 영국, 독일, 이탈리아, 노르웨이 정상이 참여한 화상회의에 참석하기고 했다고 밝혔다.(끝)
