President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a meeting at the Oval Office of the White House on the 4th (local time). This is the first meeting with a foreign leader in Trump's second term.

After the meeting, a joint press conference was held in the East Room. At a press conference, President Trump said that the Palestinian residents of the Gaza Strip should be resettled in areas other than the Gaza Strip, and that "the United States will take over the Gaza Strip."

President Trump said, “We will own Gaza and take responsibility for the dismantlement of all dangerous unexploded ordnance and other weapons on the site, leveling the site, demolishing destroyed buildings, and creating economic development that will provide unlimited jobs and housing for the local population,”

At the press conference, President Trump mentioned the Abraham Accords, the diplomatic achievement of his first term, and said, "I sincerely believe that many countries will soon join this incredible peace and economic development deal."

The Abraham Accords refer to the agreement that established formal diplomatic relations between Israel and Arab countries such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, and Morocco in 2020 under the chairmanship of then-President Trump.

President Trump said that he has not yet decided on his position on Israel's annexation of the West Bank and that he plans to make an announcement on this within the next four weeks.

Prime Minister Netanyahu repeatedly praised President Trump at the press conference that day, saying, “You are the best friend Israel has ever had in the White House.

Prime Minister Netanyahu emphasized that in order to completely end the war with Hamas, three goals must be achieved: destroying Hamas' military and ruling capabilities, releasing all hostages, and ensuring that the Gaza Strip never again poses a threat to Israel.

He also said, "Israel will end the war victorious, and Israel's victory will be America's victory."

After the leaders of the two countries explained the results of their meeting, reporters continued to ask questions.

“When asked by a reporter whether he would send U.S. troops to Gaza,” President Trump responded, “If necessary, we will.”

“We will take control of that place, we will develop it, we will create thousands of jobs, and this will be something the entire Middle East can be very proud of,” President Trump said.

He went on to say, “The potential of the Gaza Strip is incredible,” and that if developed, the Gaza Strip could become “the Riviera of the Middle East.”

Asked by what authority the U.S. would have control over Gaza, he said, "I've been studying this very closely for many months, looking at it from all different angles," and added, "I've talked to leaders of other countries in the Middle East, and they like this idea very much."

Asked if this meant permanent occupation, he said: "I'm looking at long-term possession. And I think this will bring great stability to that part of the Middle East, and perhaps to the entire Middle East."

When asked if he did not support the 'two state solution', he replied, "It is not about two states, one state or any other state. This means that I want to give a chance at life to people who have never had the chance to live a life."

The two-state solution is a plan for Israel and Palestine to coexist peacefully as independent states, which the former Biden administration supported.

When asked by a reporter about his opinion on President Trump's plan to manage the Gaza Strip, Prime Minister Netanyahu mentioned the third goal mentioned above and said, "President Trump is approaching this from a much higher level."

“I think this could be something that will change history, and it’s really worth pursuing this,” he said.
