"The U.S. Senate proposes a bill to protect the United States from hostile forces such as North Korea, China, Russia, and Iran."

@Sen. Deb Fischer, R-Neb., introduced legislation Monday(27th) that would require the Federal Communications Commission to disclose licenses, authorizations, or other grants of authority held by companies of foreign adversarial countries in the telecommunications market.

[Deb Fischer

The U.S. Senate proposed a bill targeting North Korea, China, Russia, and Iran on the 27th. Deb Fischer, a Republican member of the Senate Commerce Committee, proposed a bill to protect America's communications networks from threats from hostile countries, and this bill is named the 'Foreign Adversary Communications Transparency Act.'

Democratic Rep. Jackie Rosen and Ben Ray Luhan, and Republican Rep. John Cornyn participated as bipartisan co-sponsors of this bill. Rep. Cornyn, who co-sponsored the bill, issued a statement on the day, saying, “Foreign enemies will harm technology and communications infrastructure.” “It is no secret that they are threatening our national security by abusing both legal and illegal access,” he said, calling for stronger supervision.

It is assessed that this bill was proposed with the intention of comprehensively dealing with all hostile forces that have the potential to threaten U.S. national security rather than simply targeting a specific country.

A separate bill was proposed in the Senate to prevent hostile countries, including North Korea, China, Russia, and Iran, from purchasing real estate near U.S. military facilities.

This bill was jointly sponsored by seven Republican senators, including Ted Cruz, Rick Scott, and Ted Bird, on the 23rd, and stems from concerns that hostile countries may purchase real estate around military facilities and pose security threats such as intelligence collection. Done.

The bill comes amid ongoing concerns in Congress that individuals and companies linked to the Chinese government are increasing their real estate holdings in the United States.

“The federal government has an obligation to protect the American people and military bases from espionage and terrorist attacks,” co-sponsor Rep. Scott said in a statement. “Especially as we face threats from state actors such as Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran.” “This is even more so,” he said.

He added, “These are hostile forces trying to harm America and our way of life,” and emphasized, “It is time to put America’s interests first and pass this bill.”

In particular, citing cases in which North Korean hackers who stole identities were hired as employees of a U.S. computer security company and infiltrated American companies, the possibility of North Korea entering companies established near U.S. military bases and monitoring their capabilities can be ruled out. He said there were none.

U.S. lawmakers said that through this bill, “we are trying to respond in advance to potential threats from North Korea.”

It is assessed that these bills were proposed with the intention of comprehensively dealing with all hostile forces that have the potential to threaten U.S. national security rather than simply targeting specific countries.
