“National security advisers from the U.S., South Korea and Japan meet in Washington to discuss dispatch of North Korean troops and pending issues”

On the 25th (local time), an emergency meeting of the security chiefs of Korea, the United States, and Japan was held in Washington, DC. The White House announced that the three national security advisers, including U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, South Korea's National Security Office Director Shin Won-sik, and Japan's National Security Director Takeo Akiba, met in Washington, D.C. to discuss North Korea's troop dispatch to Russia.

National security advisers from the three countries expressed serious concerns about the possibility of North Korean military involvement in the battlefield with Russia's Utrayna. The three national security advisers resolved to renew efforts to build a new era of trilateral partnership that will be a force for peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific and beyond, and to seek another trilateral leader at the earliest opportunity. We promised to make efforts to hold a summit.

Meanwhile, a bilateral meeting between U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and South Korea's National Security Advisor Shin Won-sik discussed recent actions taken by North Korea, including changing the constitution to define South Korea as a hostile country and blowing up roads and railways connecting the two Koreas.

한편, 제이크 설리번 미 국가안보보좌관과 신원식 한국 국가안보실장의 양자회담에서는 남한을 적대국가로 정의하는 헌법변경과 남북을 연결하는 도로와 철도 폭파를 포함하여 북한이 취한 최근 조치에 대해 논의했다.

National Security Advisor Sullivan reiterated the United States' firm commitment to Korea. He noted the precedent-setting cooperation between the United States led by the leadership of President Biden and President Yoon, especially the adoption in July of the U.S.-South Korea Guidelines for Nuclear Deterrence and Operations on the Korean Peninsula.

Meanwhile, as Ukraine's military intelligence agency said, North Korean troops being trained in Russia are likely to be deployed to Ukraine's western front around the 27th or 28th, as Kirby, White House NSC communications adviser, said in an online briefing today.

한편, 러시아에서 훈련을 받고 있는 북한군이 27-28일쯤 우크라이나 서부전선으로 투입될 가능성이 있다고 우크라이나 군정보부가 밝힌것과 같이 커비 백아관 NSC 소통보좌관도 오늘 온라인 브리핑에서 밝혔다.(끝)
